How to write a title and description people will click
Your title and description are your ad in the search results. They decide whether people click on your result or on the competitor's just below it.
Length is measured in pixels
Search engines truncate by width, not by character count. Wide letters like W or M take up more space than i or l. That's why the tool measures your title in pixels: around 600 px is safe, which is usually 50 to 60 characters.
Title
- Put your keyword at the beginning.
- Give every page a unique title.
- Put your company name at the end, after a vertical bar.
- Don't write the whole title in all caps.
Description
The description doesn't directly affect your ranking, but it does affect whether people click. Say what they'll find on the page and why they should choose you, ideally with a call to action. Words that match the search query are shown in bold.
Social sharing image
Make it 1200 × 630 px (a 1.91:1 ratio). Keep important text and your logo in the center, since social networks sometimes crop the edges. Without an image, a link shared on Facebook or LinkedIn looks empty, and people click it less often.
