How to create a QR code that always scans
Most QR codes that won't scan fail for the same reasons: they're too small, the contrast is too low, or there's no margin around them. Here's how to avoid that.
Print size
On a business card or flyer, make it at least 2 × 2 cm. For posters, a handy rule of thumb: each side of the code should be about one tenth of the scanning distance. Scanned from 2 meters away, that's 20 cm. For print, download the SVG, which you can scale up without losing quality.
Contrast and margin
Use a dark code on a light background. Some scanners can't read inverted colors. Leave a blank margin at least 4 modules wide around the code. This is called the quiet zone. Without it, the scanner can't tell where the code begins.
Static or dynamic code
Our generator creates static codes: the content is encoded directly in the code, so it never expires and we collect no data about it. Dynamic codes redirect through a third-party server. You can edit them, but they stop working if the service shuts down. To track visits, a link with UTM parameters is all you need.
QR payments
Payment QR codes for bank transfers that mobile banking apps can read. The Czech QR Platba, the Czech Banking Association standard for payments in CZK, contains the account as an IBAN, the amount, the currency, payment symbols, and a message. You can enter the account number in the usual 123456789/0800 format, and we'll calculate the IBAN. PAY by square, the Slovak standard for payments in EUR, needs the recipient's IBAN and name. Always test the code before you print it.
