01Surfshark Ultimate vs One Pro: what’s the difference

Surfshark’s public pricing lists three plans: Starter, One and One+ (Surfshark). One Pro and Ultimate are only sold through dedicated offer links (see our Surfshark One Pro review for the tier below). So we pulled Ultimate’s feature list from the checkout data behind the offer link and compared it with the other plans.

One thing worth knowing: Surfshark’s help center does not mention Ultimate yet. Its dedicated IP article still says that a dedicated IP “is not included in Surfshark bundles” (Surfshark help center). If you ever contact support, expect answers based on older documentation.

02How much Surfshark Ultimate costs

Ultimate is paid once, upfront, for the full 27 months. After that it renews every year. US prices below are before sales tax. In the EU and the UK, local VAT is added at checkout.

The real jump comes at renewal. For the first 27 months Ultimate works out at $9.99 a month, then it renews at $199 a year, which is $16.58 a month. Over the first five years and three months (27 months plus three renewals) you would spend $866.73 before tax at today’s prices. Surfshark’s terms also allow it to change renewal prices, with advance notice (Surfshark terms).

With VAT, Ultimate costs €320.98 in Germany (19% VAT) and £244.51 in the UK (20% VAT) for the first 27 months. Renewal is €208.80 and £180.40 a year with VAT.

One detail from the checkout data: Ultimate renews at the same price as One Pro ($199 a year). Surfshark does not say publicly whether you keep the dedicated IP and the number after renewal. Check with support before your second term starts.

There is no yearly or monthly Ultimate plan. If you want to pay month to month, you are limited to Starter, One or One+ ($16.45 to $21.85 a month before tax).

03The VPN: servers, speed and features

The VPN itself is the same in every plan. Surfshark lists more than 4,500 servers in 100 countries, all RAM-only, so nothing stays on them after a reboot (Surfshark, Trust Center). Its own server data shows, however, that 46 of those 100 countries only have virtual locations: the IP address belongs to that country, but the hardware sits somewhere else.

You can connect an unlimited number of devices. You get WireGuard, IKEv2 and OpenVPN, a double VPN where you pick both the entry and exit server (Dynamic MultiHop), IP rotation without dropping the connection, a kill switch and the CleanWeb ad blocker (Surfshark).

TechRadar tested speeds in April 2026: with WireGuard on the nearest server it measured a median of 1,021 Mbps, slightly behind NordVPN at 1,249 Mbps. 04The dedicated IP: what it is for and where you can get one

A regular VPN gives you a shared address that other people use at the same time. A dedicated IP belongs to you alone and stays the same. Surfshark recommends it in three situations (Surfshark):

• Remote access: you can set a company system, server or home network to accept connections from your address only.
• Fewer “I’m not a robot” checks: websites no longer see hundreds of strangers coming from the same address.
• IP-sensitive services: online banking or government websites that sometimes block shared VPN addresses.

Surfshark offers dedicated IPs in 15 listed locations: Los Angeles, San Jose, Dallas and Denver in the US, plus Amsterdam, Paris, Warsaw, London, Frankfurt, Milan, São Paulo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney and Johannesburg. The same page mentions 20 locations elsewhere, but only 15 are listed, and the same 15 carry the dedicated IP tag on Surfshark’s server map (Surfshark). None of them is on the US East Coast, in Canada or in Japan.

You choose the location once and cannot change it later. Each account gets one dedicated IP (Surfshark help center). Surfshark also admits that the address is tied to your account email, so it offers less privacy than a shared IP. That is a plus for banking or a company VPN and a minus for anonymous browsing.

Bought separately, a dedicated IP starts at $3.75 a month, so at least $101.25 over 27 months. In Ultimate it comes with the Alternative Number for $54 more than One Pro.

05Unlimited Incogni: removing your data from broker databases

Incogni belongs to the same group as Surfshark. It sends data brokers removal requests on your behalf, under applicable privacy and consumer protection laws such as the GDPR. It automatically covers more than 420 brokers. Surfshark does not spell out what “unlimited Incogni” in its bundles includes. On Incogni’s own pricing page, the Unlimited plan adds unlimited custom removal requests for sites outside the standard list and covers 3,000+ additional sites (Incogni, Incogni help center). On its own, Incogni Unlimited costs $179.88 a year.

Where you live matters a lot here. Incogni works for residents of the US, Canada, the UK, the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein (Incogni help center). Of the 420 brokers on its public list, 366 cover only the US and just 45 cover the European Union (Incogni). For American users the automated removals do most of the work. In Europe, the custom requests are what make the Unlimited tier useful. Court records, government websites and social media accounts are out of scope everywhere.

Why bother? Surfshark’s own breach research counted 425.7 million breached accounts worldwide in 2025, about 14 every second, with 142.9 million in the US alone (Surfshark research). Keep in mind that this is research from a company that sells protection against the problem.

06Antivirus, Alert and scam protection

Antivirus runs on Windows, macOS and Android, not on iPhone (Surfshark help center). In the June 2026 test by independent lab AV-TEST it scored the full 6 points for protection on Windows, 4.5 for performance and 6 for usability. Protection is top tier, while the 4.5 for performance means it slows a PC down a little more than products with a perfect score (AV-TEST).

Alert watches for your email addresses, payment cards and ID numbers in leaked databases. You can monitor unlimited emails and IDs, and IDs from any country are supported (Surfshark help center).

Scam protection is made up of several parts, each with its own limits:

• Texts: on Android the app checks the sender, the message and any links, on iPhone it moves suspicious texts to the Spam folder in Messages (Android, iOS). The “Potential loss prevented” counter is available in the US only.
• Email: the AI email scam checker only works in the Google Chrome extension and only with Gmail on the web (Surfshark help center).
• Websites: CleanWeb blocks ads, trackers and malicious pages. The Android web content blocker can also block whole categories such as scams and phishing.
• Calls: scam call protection is still listed as “Coming soon,” so it does not work yet.

The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center received 1,008,597 complaints in 2025, with reported losses of $20.877 billion (FBI IC3). The FTC separately received 3 million fraud reports in 2025, with $15.9 billion in reported losses (FTC).

07The US-only parts: Alternative Number and identity theft coverage

The Alternative Number is a virtual phone number you can give out instead of your real one. You read texts in the Surfshark app, and calls arrive as normal phone calls. Surfshark only offers US numbers, you can only reply to US numbers, and verification codes from Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) may not arrive (Surfshark help center, replies). You can change the number once every 30 days (Surfshark help center). In the US it is a handy way to keep your real number private when you sign up for services. Outside the US it is mostly useful for US services.

Identity theft coverage of up to $1 million is available to US residents, including territories and DC, except New York State (Surfshark help center). It reimburses the cost of restoring your identity, lost wages including child and elder care (up to $5,000) and counseling (up to $1,000). According to the summary of benefits, online fraud reimbursement is not included, so money stolen in a scam is not paid back (summary of benefits, PDF). The policy is underwritten by HSB Specialty Insurance Company.

08Privacy and trust: audits and the September incident

Surfshark is based in the Netherlands, whose laws, according to Surfshark, do not require VPN providers to log user data. Deloitte verified its no-logs policy in 2023 and 2025, Cure53 audited its infrastructure (most recently in 2026, including the new Dausos protocol) and SecuRing completed an infrastructure security audit in December 2025 (Surfshark Trust Center). Surfshark merged with Nord Security in 2022.

In early September 2026 Surfshark disclosed an incident: because of human error, an internal test server was reachable from the internet and an attacker got in. The company detected it on August 31 and completed remediation by September 5. Surfshark says no user data or VPN services were affected, but it found internal build-related credentials in its code history and promised another independent audit (Surfshark). Watch for that audit before you commit to a long plan.

Reviewers rate Surfshark well: Security.org rates it 9.5 out of 10 (review updated in September 2026), noting that it may record IP addresses (Security.org), and TechRadar gave it 4.25 out of 5 in April 2026 (TechRadar). We found no review of the Ultimate plan itself on any major testing site.

Pros

• The most features in one subscription: VPN, antivirus, breach alerts, scam protection, unlimited Incogni and a dedicated IP.
• Only $2 a month more than One Pro, and it renews at the same $199 a year (whether the IP and number carry over is not confirmed).
• Incogni Unlimited alone costs $179.88 a year. Ultimate includes it together with the VPN and antivirus.
• Unlimited devices, so one account covers the whole household.
• Audits by Deloitte, Cure53 and SecuRing, and RAM-only servers.
• Full marks for protection in AV-TEST’s June 2026 Windows test.
• For US residents: a second US phone number they can fully use.

Cons

• Two-year plan only, paid upfront.
• The price jumps to $16.58 a month after renewal.
• Dedicated IP in only 15 locations, and you cannot change it later.
• The Alternative Number is a US number, and identity theft coverage is for US residents only.
• No scam call protection yet, email checking only in Chrome with Gmail.
• No phone support, only 24/7 chat and email (Surfshark help center).
• The help center does not document Ultimate yet.

10Is Surfshark Ultimate worth it? Who should and should not buy it

Ultimate makes sense if you will use the two things that set it apart from the cheaper plans: unlimited Incogni and a dedicated IP. If you only need one of them, there is usually a better deal.

1. Open the Ultimate offer through our link below. It is not on Surfshark’s regular pricing page.
2. Check the total at checkout. In the US it should be $269.73 before tax for 27 months.
3. After payment, activate the dedicated IP in your account under VPN. Choose the location carefully: you cannot change it later.
4. Create your Incogni account and sign the authorization, otherwise no removal requests go out.
5. Put the renewal date in your calendar. You can turn off auto-renewal in your account at any time before then.

Read the refund terms. Surfshark offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, but it applies to the first purchase only, and the terms exclude Alternative ID services, explicitly including the Alternative Number, as well as the anonymous dedicated IP option (Surfshark terms, help center). The terms do not say how this applies to Ultimate, which includes the number. If you want to be sure you can get a full refund, ask support on live chat before you buy. If you ever buy a Surfshark plan through the App Store, refunds go through Apple, not Surfshark.

Surfshark Ultimate is the most complete bundle Surfshark offers, and it is sensibly priced against One Pro: $2 more a month buys you a dedicated IP and a US number. It gives the most to US residents, who can fully use the second number (identity theft coverage comes with One+ and One Pro as well). Outside the US the number is of limited use. Buy it if you want unlimited Incogni and need a fixed IP address. If a VPN with antivirus is all you need, One will save you a lot.
