TK Slavia Radonice

A new website for the TK Slavia Radonice tennis club near Prague and a design for its admin. Players book a court, sign up for a tournament and pay their fees on the website. Parents enrol their children in the tennis school. On a phone, the website works like an app on the home screen.

TK Slavia Radonice

About the project

TK Slavia Radonice is a tennis club with three clay courts in Radonice near Prague. It runs a tennis school for children and adults and has teams registered with the Czech Tennis Association. We designed and built its new website and designed the admin the club will use to run day to day operations. The website leads visitors to two actions: book a court or join the school. On a phone, both buttons stay within reach in the bottom bar. The home page shows how much court time is free today and what the weather will be. Booking a court takes three steps and works without an account. Members set up tournaments themselves in a wizard, and the website draws the bracket or groups and schedules matches on the courts. A player enters the result and the opponent confirms it. Wins earn points in the club ladder. In My club, players find their bookings, matches, fees and their children's lessons. A whole family can work out its fees at once and pay with a single QR payment. The website can be added to a phone's home screen without an app store. We designed the admin as a clickable prototype. It adapts to each role: the manager, committee, reception and coaches see only what they need. It covers court bookings, the till, school applications and attendance, venue hire, members and fees, tournaments, bulk messages and website content.

What it looks like

Design notes

  • Booking a court takes three steps: time, details and confirmation. Players tap hourly slots for three courts, and the next hour extends the booking up to three hours. When the following hour is free too, the website offers it. The price follows the court rates and is paid at reception before play.
  • The card with today's court status on the home page shows free hours and the weather six hours ahead from Open-Meteo. The weather refreshes every 15 minutes and the website adds a verdict such as Perfect for tennis or Raining, the clay may be wet.
  • A tournament is set up in four steps: basics, format, entries and schedule. Formats are knockout, groups with a knockout or round robin, in singles, doubles or mixed. The wizard estimates the number of matches, the length of the tournament and the number of playing days in advance.
  • The draw seeds players so that the top two can only meet in the final and fills in byes. Matches are scheduled on the courts, or players arrange them themselves. A player enters the result and the opponent confirms or disputes it. When it rains, the organiser moves the programme back by 30 minutes.
  • The club ladder awards points for wins and titles. Alongside tournaments, the website shows teams in Czech Tennis Association leagues with standings, fixtures and rosters, plus an events calendar. The next event appears in a strip above the website header.
  • The fee calculator works out one payment for the whole family based on member categories and hours worked at volunteer sessions. It creates one QR payment with a reference number and copies the details with one tap. The QR code is drawn in the browser, so no third party sees the payment details.
  • The tennis school application has four steps: programme, group size, when the child is available and contact details. The price updates as parents choose the programme and the number of players in the group. The school runs four programmes, from mini tennis for four year olds to adults.
  • Venue hire covers corporate events, turnkey tournaments, private parties and children's events, with an enquiry form. The website also has the club rules with navigation by article, news, a map of the grounds and a contact page with a map.
  • The Club on your home screen page shows step by step how to add the website to the home screen on iPhone and Android. For fun, the home page has a mini tennis game against the computer, which only loads once a visitor scrolls down to it.
  • The admin is designed for five roles. The daily overview shows court occupancy, revenue, a queue of tasks and a timeline of the courts. Bookings move by dragging in the schedule, repeat weekly, and a whole day can be closed for rain with a notice to the players affected.
  • The admin design also includes a till with a daily cash up, school applications in columns by status, timetable and attendance, venue hire enquiries, matching fees from bank statements, bulk messages by email, SMS and phone notification, website content editing with a preview and a change history.
  • Every admin section has its own help with search and a glossary, and new users can start a 19 step guided tour. On a phone, the admin has a bottom bar, a schedule for each court separately and buttons in place of dragging.
